What information is schools asked to report?

Edited

Welcome to our guide on reporting participation counts for schools! This document will help you understand what information is required and what is not when it comes to submitting your participation data. Let's dive in!

What Schools Need to Report

Schools are asked to report participation counts rather than individual student records. Depending on your state’s process, you may be required to confirm or submit the following information:

  • Number of participating students by sport/activity, gender, and season

  • School and program directory information (e.g., active sports offered)

  • Confirmation that reported counts are accurate for the reporting year

What Schools Do Not Need to Submit

It's important to note that schools are not required to submit the following information:

  • Student names

  • Medical records

  • Academic data

  • Personally identifiable student information for the NFHS survey

Focus of the Participation Survey

The Participation Survey is designed to collect aggregate participation data that can be verified and summarized at both the state and national levels. This ensures that the information is accurate and useful for understanding participation trends across various sports, activities, and demographics.

Thank you for your commitment to providing accurate participation counts. Your efforts help us maintain a comprehensive overview of student engagement in sports across the nation!
